Your name PRESS RELEASE HAITI HOUSES Although Haiti is just a short 90 minute flight from the United States, it is one of the poorest countries in the world. Most of the people of Haiti live in shacks made of cardboard, plastic, or whatever materials they can scavenge. These "houses" barely provide shelter and protection from the elements, hurricanes, floods and droughts. Since the earthquake, the "homes" have been reduced to piles of rubble. The Haiti Houses project was started in 2008 by two art teachers, Ann Ayers and Ellen McMillan, of Coconut Creek, Florida, after they saw a presentation about the living conditions in Haiti. They devised the project as a way for students to make a difference in the lives of the people of Haiti. After the terrible earthquake in January 2010, the project was introduced to the compassionate and creative community via the Internet and hundreds of teachers, students, scout groups, churches and individuals immediately embraced the project and set to work creating "Haiti Houses." Locally, (insert your name and affiliation) has led the creation of the tiny houses with (insert the name of your group). The houses are being sold for (insert the dollar amount) at (insert where you're selling the pins). If you are interested in purchasing one of the "Haiti Houses" contact (your phone number).
